Default XLT or FX4?

I Recently just purchased a 2012 F150 Supercrew with the ecoboost engine with the 3.55 gears and locking differential. I really wanted the FX4 but could not budget the extra $5k at the dealership as they could not get a FX4 stripped down and I could not afford the extra in payment. I figured I could just get the XLT and add aftermarket parts later as I save up. Is there really anything the FX4 gives you that you can't put on the XLT yourself?

Not really, you could add OEM parts to make the switch, and aftermarket parts as well that will come close. I bought a 2011 Scab xlt, didn't really have the money to get an fx4 either. From the outside it looks similar to an fx now.

Your right its hard to tell the difference? I want to black out my truck with new tail lights, grill, bumper, and wheels. It's a slow work in process.
