I had a 4.3 in my 89 Chevy 1500. I hated it. IMO, get a V8 or smaller truck.

A quarter million miles and a tranny thats on it's last legs! Why don't you just save yourself the hassle and flush that $1000 down the crapper. Or better yet, just send it to me.

Seriously, the only way I would buy something like this would be if I already had a tranny ready for it and was planning to rebuild the motor as a project.

I'd buy it for the novelty. Didn't know Ford made a 4.9L V-6.

Seriously, if the body is in good shape, I'd get it, that engine is just about broken in. 4.9s have a history of running forever.

If it runs good and body is good.. And you know how to change a trans .. I would say go for it.. These I6's are decent motors They last forever

Agree that the I6 4.9L/300cid is a great motor and most likely has many more miles to go before it has too many issues.

If you can swap out the tranny fairly easily/cheaply, this truck could be a good deal.

They didn't, its actually an I6.

I think it is probably worth looking into. Maybe try to get the price down a smidge due to the tranny issues. From what I hear, the I6 is nearly indestructable, so you should have many more miles of service from it.
