Default Would the upgrade be worth it

hi all, currently have a 2011 supercrew lariat 5.0 love the truck bought it In July with 60k mike, currently has 63k. While I love the truck I've always wanted one of the newer body style 15- and up but at the time consort afford it. Was wondering if it would be worth trading in for a 15? I found a 15 with 15k miles, same truck as mine pretty much but a 15. Probaly will get screws on tradein and it will be wayy more than I can afford. But the dealers 3 mins way fron my work maybe stop by and check the truck out and go from there

I think you may possibly be answering your own question, if you examine your uncertainty.

I don't know how much you owe, but having only owned the truck for about 6 months you may very well owe more than you'll get on trade-in. Obviously only you know what you owe, but it's just a basic observation from an outsider.

However, given the fact you said you will get screwed on trade-in and it will be way more than you can afford, it sounds to me like you will be stretching your budget to trade-up. If that's the case, being upside-down in a car loan wouldn't be a favorable position to be in. Will you still be able to save money, or make the payments should you lose your job at some point? These are things to consider.

With all of that being said, only you can really decide if it's "worth it".

I'm not sure what I would get trade in but I imagine it'll be less than I owe. I'm not strapped for cash by any means. I just like having my payment at 400$. If I were to lose my job I would be okay as I have an emergency fund that' would last me about 8 months should I lose my job, I'd sure love a newer truck with less miles

My truck was a 2010 which I loved also, it had 68k miles, was in good shape.
The dealer allowed me $21K for the trade and I have a $360. a month payment for 54 months. After trying out the truck, the dealer called me 6 weeks later and gave me the deal I wanted, why not look at a new truck. Tell them what you want for a payment. Then tell them do what ever they want for trade in numbers or interest rate or cash bonus or the full phase of the moon. But you get your payment you want and trade for new. Get a 16 left over. That would be the best deal. You just need to find the right dealer.

the issue is going to be finding a 16 left over that I can afford, I'm seeing them go anywhere from 42-48k... no way I can get a 400$ payment. I doubt 400$ a month would ever be possible, if i trade the truck in that pays off the loan. I wouldn't have nearly enough for a downpayment to get the payment right. It's just a thought I may keep it

I got my 13 Screw 5.0 Lariat back in May 14,500 miles on it. Have put 7k miles on it. Fixed brake shudder with new pads. Disabled rear defrost.
Go sit in/drive a 15+. Look @ it very carefully. Is the seat as comfortable as yours? Do you like the dash as much as yours? Do you live where doors may freeze? You know what you have now. Look around on this forum & others & read about good & bad on 15+.
When I got mine, it looked/drove like a 3 yr old new truck. Isn't look like ever in rain.
Yes. I take a second look @ the 15+ in traffic. Even stopped at a dealer, to take a closer look. Got brochures on 15,16,17 & look at often.
I really like my 13 & know what I have & just not ready to give it up right now.
(Besides I have some really cool wallpapers on my MFT screen & you can't do that on a 15+ Lariat)
Good luck & keep us posted.

Don't trade it in. Sell it.
I've never traded a vehicle but I've always been in the position that I can buy my replacement and sell mine. You will Definately get more return in it.

finding someone to buy it may be harder. I'd rather just trade it in. Unless a dealer will buy it outright. I love everything about my truck, but I want to do some mods to it and was thinking is it really worth putting 1500in for a lift and another 2-3k for wheels and tires when it's got 63k miles in it? Or would you rather do that to abtruck with with low miles

I'm a poor bastard....so when I was shopping I was looking at XL only...the only extra I wanted was snowplow prep. The window sticker on mine was $42,3. If you look at the tiny ecoboost 2.7 I bet you could get an XL under $40k easily.
And I do agree with shadetree...if you have a belly , the former style of F150 like my 2010 has a lot more cab room in drivers passengers area.

It sounds like you are approaching it with the right mindset then. Stick to your guns. I see way too many people allow themselves to be stretched too far in debt.

The "new vehicle bug" is tough to resist, and sometimes it makes sense to buy. The tricky part is knowing when it makes sense to pull the trigger and move forward.
