Default Windshield

Hey guys im new here, I have a cracked windsheild on my 06 F-150. Its about 4 inches from the bottom and runs most of the way across, probably 4-6 inches to spare on each side. It started as a chip from a rock that was there when i bought it, we had a huge snow storm last night and i went out to warm my truck up this morning and when i got in about ten minutes later it was the size it is now...My question is how long can i go with a crack this size? (Ive never had a cracked windshield) and how much do ya'll think it will be to fix it??

i have several vehicles with cracked windshields, however it should be noted that in some states you can get pulled over and get a ticket if you dont fix it and also the windshield is a safety feature in rollover crashes and if already cracked if you do roll the vehicle it can be a weak point and crush the roof down more than it otherwise normally would. Those points aside if you dont care about either of those you can drive forever with a cracked window, however its not advisable if its in your field of vision as it could cause you to get into or cause an accident.

One of those mobile places that comes out and fixes it will do it for about $150....but they only do this in the summer. You'll have to take it their service bay but they still basically charge the same price.

I'ved had my ex Ranger for 4 years with the exact same crack as yours and never plan to change the windshield.
My 07 F150 have the same crack when I bought it in June.
Maybe I'll change de windshied this spring, but I don't really care about that crack.

never got stopped for it...but yes you can receive a warning and maybe a ticket for it.

Here in quebec the cheapest place is 250$...but most regular compagny like speedy glass are 400$+

Last time I replaced a windsheild my insurance covered it. Use a place called the Auto Glass Clinic.

In some states, your insurance covers the total (FL for one) but when I got mine done, the stock windshield with the F150 logo in the top ran me in the range of 400-450 somewhere around there

I've had 2 replaced in mine. The insurance company sent the people to where my truck was and they did it on site. No charge to me. Check your insurance before you spend any money.
