Default Will a car motor work?

Hi all, I have a 1995 F150 5.0 automatic regular cab with dual tanks and it has a rod knocking. I have priced the same year motor and they are expensive compared to many other Ford engines that are from cars. Is it resonable to consider going with a car motor of the same size? Will everything work as far as fitting the new engine such as transmission bolt up, wiring connectors, fuel lines, computer, etc. I also have seen many older truck motors that are resonable prices and wonder if an older truck motor is possible without to many customizations needed. I would appreciate your expert advise.
Thanks
Johnny

Default Apples and Apples:

A 302 (5.0L) years '94-'95 will fit any application. Take a look here:

http://www.rebuilt-ford-engines.com/

http://www.autoguide.net/apf/ford-ca..._302rlb_3.html

All the accessories, manifolds, sensors, etc., will have to be carried over to the replacement engine.

Contact the rebuilder to ascertain a fit.

Another consideration is the oil pan and pump. May be in a different location due to the front axle.

The pump should be OK, but you're right, there will be a difference in the oil pan. Most car applications have a dual-sump pan with two drain plugs. But JWY is goint to use the pan and other parts from his engine and just change out the long block.
