Default Why?

I learned today that my connector for my hitch wasn't getting power because Ford doesn't install the relay and fuse for said connector but puts them in a bag in the glove box.
Why in the hell do they do that?

Because, otherwise, it leaves power on a flying connector under the dash. At least, that is my though.

I don't know but GM leaves trailer brake wires wrapped up under the hood along with the trailer power wire. Plus you get to BUY the J case fuse you need.

They have been doing it that way for a couple decades, dunno why.

doesn't the relay only charge the trailer battery? idk if this is right but i'd imagine the majority of trailers being pulled don't need the trailer battery charging option live on the 7 pin so it's one less unnecessary live wire for them. IDK, just a thought

Road salt up north can bridge from +12v to grd pin causing corrosion. The slight current can eat up the contacts. Something like the current flow atop a dirty battery.
