I have a 1988 FORD F150 XLT LARIAT that has a “module” it says on the front white lightning performance module would like to know if anyone knew a little about them and maybe i could ack some questions about them about it as well😂 this is tapped into a wire above my distributor on my 1988 F150 XLT lariat 5.0L motor need help would like to know a little bit more about it if anyone knows tried researching it having trouble still figuring it out
Eh, curiosity got the better of me, looks like several queries posted on other forums in the mid-2000s about it, across multiple makes and models.
General thoughts were that it fools the computer to think it's colder out than actual, causing more fuel, richer mixtures, etc towards claimed better performance.
Users on those forums generally agreed with being in the snake oil vein.
Figure a couple of choices are to leave it alone since it appears to have been there awhile, or remove it with the risk of creating another problem elsewhere.
do you know if you had to change the firing order to use one of these? Or possibly have a aftermarket distributor or cap for the distributor? or you just tap in the wire and ready to go?
