when to wax???
Hey guys, this is my first ford, and i was curious what you guys recommend when it comes to waxing the truck. I have had the truck for about a month, and it still looks great, clean it at least once a week. When do you recommend that I wax the truck for the first time, and how frequently should this be done? I'd like it to stay looking as good as new for as long as possible. thanks guys.

Before you wax, you need to use a clay bar to pull the trash out of the paint. Even a NEW vehicle has paint contamination.
Try this test: Get a thin ziplock sandwich baggie and put your hand in it, then slowly rub the paint and feel all of the bumps in the paint. This is what needs to be removed before you "wax" it.
A good brand that is pretty easy to find is the Meguires NTX. Easy on and easy off. Good protection.

lol.....yeah, and just WAIT until you go thru the ordeal of clay barring a TRUCK! You'll only do that ONCE. While it is a useful technique and does have impressive results, leave this for show cars/garage queens. The hassle is not worth it, most people simply won't notice the results. And, done wrong you'll actually DAMAGE your paint.
Professionals have done the clay bar thing for years, but recently it has become the 'darling' watchword amongst wannabes.
There is a VERY simple rule for 'when to wax?', and that is...when water quits beading easily.

I'd say wax it immediately, after a THOROUGH wash and drying with some good microfibre rags.
You know that stupid protection package dealers always try to get you to purchase? Well one part of that is a paint sealant, aka, waxing. They do it from day one (assuming you're foolish to fall for their marketing hype) so you can too.
The meguiars nxt I believe is more of a paint sealant rather than a wax. I used it and think it's awesome. Check YouTube for some videos of how to apply it, reviews, etc. My advice is to seal first with the NXT and then use a wax to get the hard, glossy shine.

And, I used a Powerball and the NXT wax. I did this last 4th of July and the water still beads nicely.
