On my '07 I just bought I have "Hollywood" tires. You know, the ones that squeal around every corner like in the movies.
Going to replace them very soon. Even though there is still a lot of tread on them there is also a lot of cracking to the tires.

The actual tire life, no matter how much tread is on them, is about 6 years. I am a manager at a VERY large tire place. every tire i have seen over about 5 years has shown signs of dry rot.

I'm going to get new tires. Dont feel too safe at highway speeds knowing the tires are cracking.
Being the stock tire (General Ameritrac TR) I read in another post on the site where they arent the best tires due to their construction. True?

it all depends on what the tire is for (all terrain, highway, off road) and what kind of driving you do, anytime i buy a new vehicle i replace the tires. if you do all or most highway driving then you dont want to go with an all terrain tire, you wont get a very good life out of the tire. do some research and read reviews before you buy tires. check out tirerack.com and read the reviews.
tirerack.com has some good user reviews. call around to local tire shops and get some advice, those guys know what they are talking about, most of the time you will get someone that knows what they are talking about. I was trained to try and sell the tire that will fit the driving style of the customer not whats on sale or what is the most expensive.

many dealers and some shops will get your front end within ford specs... and call it good..... my 08 would eat up tires from the day i got it brand new... and ford said it was good... i took it to my dads buddy and he said it was within ford spec....BUT*** he got it even better...... and then it actually drove straight.. and stopped eating tires..

Tirerack is where I got my last set for the truck I just got rid of. They were Yokohama Geolanders A/T's.
Liked them a lot and got great wear from them. Thats what I'm going to get for this truck.
