Default What Would You Do?

So I posted on here about my 2011 3.5l ecoboost engine locking up at 112,000 miles on it for no apparent reason. So now I am in working things out to purchase a new one through the dealer. I am currently between two 2016 xlt supercabs. One has the 2.7L Eco, the other the 5.0 V8. I am honestly hesitant to buy another Ecoboost after my last experience and get the V8. However, people seem to rave about the 2.7s here and the gas mileage is appealing. I do not tow much but am mostly concerned with reliability.

What would yall choose?

Also, the 2.7L is about $4,000 cheaper

In the end it's what you want and what features are important to you. What will be the best fit for you and so on. I would do the 5.0 v8, but I love v8's. You may be able to get them to match price for a V8 of what the 2.7L runs. Remember to know when to walk away. I've done that a few times and usually get the deal I want or at least close enough for me to bite.

Yeah they seem pretty eager to move these being the and of the year and the end of this month. I got an incredible bargain with my 2011 when I bought it. I guess im just slightly hesitant about the reliability of an engine with a turbo vs. naturally aspirated

The mechanic in me guides me to buy a vehicle with an engine that does not require a separate device to make power.

Call me old fashioned but I'd rather not rely on a hair drier to make my truck move when I mash the go pedal.

I would get a 2017 with the new 3.5 EcoBoost.

Unfortunately going to be out of my price range. They are giving me a hell of a deal on the 2016s

If the 2.7 is 4000 cheaper, you can always get a 6 yr, 125,000 mile premium care extended warranty through Flood Ford for 2100 or so. That will cover almost everything for quite awhile just in case the EB would develop a problem.

Well the dealership backed down their offer. They originally offered me $11,500 for my current truck then tried to back it down to $9,000 claiming it was in horrible condition. My truck has one cracked rear taillight and quarter sized dent on the tailgate next to it (barely backed into a basketball goal.) Other than that its in great condition with about every package and feature imaginable on it. They said it would only be worth $13,000 grand private sale with a working engine in it. BS

The only reason I bought my truck was because of the 2.7 and it has been rock solid. Great power and mpg's to boot.
