my 2005 v8 4.6l 84000mls doesnt go on drive or 2 1,but does reverse! i had no signs of it about to go out , my fuild is red pink,it shifts like is working fine. do i need to rebuild the tranny or is it some thing smaller . please help.

 

Look underneath the truck and see if the bracket is binding on something. Have someone inside the truck, brakes on, blocked off and all the safety precautions.

There is a cable linkage from inside that will go to the side of the tranny, it is connected to a bracket which is connected to the inner workings of the tranny. If it is binding, broken, etc then it can cause shifting problems. Like I said earlier, please take precautions. If you plan on keeping your truck for any time I would recommend getting a Haynes manual from autozone or one of the local car parts stores in your area, they are great.
