Just about to take mine in for its first oil change, I'm at 3,900 miles. I'm planning to have it serviced every 4-5k.

not an 18, but my first one was done at just over 3000 miles. since then i change it when the olm tells me to, which is usually between 7-8k miles.

1000, I don't give a damn what they say, bought a Motorcraft filter and oil, did it my self. Took it in for the free 1st one at 7k after a 6000 mile trip.

500, then every 1000. It's only money and gives me piece of mind.

NOT. I go by the IOLM and did on my last two trucks too. No matter what others say, the engineers that designed the engine and requirements know a lot more than me.

you can wait until the oil life monitor tells you to change and be fine. im just stuck in my ways and the first 3 changes were "free" anyway.

It is, way more. Semi-synthetic (per manual), or synthetic, doesn't matter.

I suspect your IOLM will show at least 35% more life left when you bother to check it.
