That is black asphalt. No snow, all salt.

I went to a coin op car wash and just power washed it to get some of the salt off. I was driving to work on the highway Wednesday morning and it looked foggy because of the salt in the air.

It's worse when the roads are damp, then you get the salt spray over everything! Thats what the trip home will be like, after the deep freeze we had, it hit a balmy 15, and the salt went to work melting whatever was still on the road. Somehow I prefer the deep cold over this.

Always spray the underside at the coin-op car wash or make sure the auto car wash washed the under carriage.
If it's a "salty " month or a "salty" season. I get the 30 day unlimited car washes at the auto car wash. So I go 2 times a week when it's bad.

Yup, I spent extra time on the underside.

I myself don't de-salt my vehicles until Spring or when the snow stops permanently.
Why? Because the water from the coin op won't get 100% of the salt off.
Then the remaining salt coupled with water is a perfect electrolyte for corrosion.
Dry salt, not so much.
But then there's the slush souping the salt up again to do what what watery salt does best, eat steel..

Only real solution is to move to Florida or Arizona.
