I have 2018 5.0 f150, I'm curious as to what gen engine I have. The eighth digit on vin is 5, but images of the 3rd gen do not look similar to my engine from what i can see online as I have the high-pressure fuel pump through the passenger side valve cover.

 

You most likely have a gen 3 engine. The images you might be seeing online are of the coyote from a mustang perhaps?

 

that was what I was thinking but wasn't sure if they were different or not

 

3rd. Gen 1 was up to 2014, Gen 2 2015-2017, Gen 3 2018-2020, Gen 4 2021+.
