What to do, what to do
I have been searching high and low for a new(to me)truck. Right now I have a 2001 Ranger that I am probably going to trade. I am looking at a 2003 F150 Supercrew that has 98,000 on it. My dilemma is that I feel that is a lot of miles. Second they want almost 13,000 for it and I feel it is too much. It is clean and in good mechnical condition. I just am not wild about the miles. Do you think that is a lot of miles or not? I know it averages out to 10,000 a year which isnt bad. I am just not sure what to do. This would be my First F150 and I know they are durable.Second would you pay that much for that rig or not.
My top end is gonna be 12000, we just bought my wife a new car so she didnt have to put the baby in the back seat of a two door. Hers was 18,500 and I don't wanna try to have two huge car payments. I have found some similar styles with the same miles that are going for between 9,995 and 10,995. It seemed high to me at 13,000 so I will have to haggle with them a bit I guess!
I'm gonna throw something out here having bought a lot of cars....there are price points where a little more buys a lot more...5,000 and under segment a great example.... Spend a bit more and you can get much more for your money. I would look and make sure that 1 or 2 grand more couldn't get you a great value. Often times a newer truck will have a much lower finance rate as well, saving u additional money. If you can swing it, might get more for your overall money if you check out what other options are out there. What if you waited a year and banked payments of what you would have spent and use as down payment? Then get more truck...just my 2 cents. It's your money, it's easy to tell someone else what to do with it.
I have thought about waiting but with a ranger there is no room for the baby seat and another person. I use it to hunt also and it's hard to take more than one person with me because of the room. The truck is way overpriced. I have found similar trucks with same miles for 2-5k less. I am gonna use that as a bargaining chip and see what happens. I know where my payments can be so I am not going over that. I thought about waiting and getting more truck later but the prices are nuts and I don't see them going the other way any time soon. So trying to save that money for a year would be difficult, plus who knows what the prices will be next year. It's hard to say. Since I have gotten burned before with a used car I am a little more Leary about what I want to take home. The truck is solid I just need to work on the price.
