Default What Do They Mean

Hope the following questions don't sound dumb, but keep in mind I just bought my first f150 a little over a week ago.I own a 2003 XLT Triton V8 4.6L. What does the XLT mean? What is the difference between Super Cab and Super Crew?My truck seats 6 passengers. Thanks for you help.

I am not sure what the xlt stands for, but the xlt is a step up from the xl model. The xl is a little more bare-bones whereas the xlt has more options like a cd player, cruise control, etc.

Supercrew has 4 regular doors that open the way a 4-door sedan doors open. The supercab is an extra-large cab that has 2 smaller doors that can
only be opened when the 2 regular doors are open. Both models claim to seat 6 passengers, when there is a front bench seat. But, the reality is that the supercrew has more rear passenger leg room than the extracab.

Just found this little tidbit...

"Going back to the 1960's Ford defined XL as "extra lively", "extra lovely" and "extra luxury". Add a T onto that and that stood for touring."

the xl was for extra luxury. That was above the normal models of the time.
Nowadays, the xl is the base model F150. Then the xlt would have more conveniences like power windows, mirrors, etc., as standard items rather than options.

Of course, you can always add options to any vehicle you buy these days, so the xl can come with a cd player or whatever else you want to add-on.
