Default wear and tear on engine

My job (delivery of material) calls for me to constantly stop and start for 8 hours a day. My stops can range anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes. I was wondering if it was better to shut the engine off everytime I stop?

leave it run IMO, a majority of engine wear comes from starting.

I figured it would be better to, I know it will wear the starter out quicker, what else can it do to the engine. I have 'brillant minds' above me that want us to shut the engine off everytime we step out of the truck.

Is there anything in writing to back the reasoning? I work for idiots basically and they have to have things in writing to make some decisions. They've had a couple of the guys tell them that it will wear the starter out sooner and so forth, but didn't listen of course.
