Hi gang,

boat stories...

Make sure you don't do what this lady did that was in the Air Force...

She took her BF's boat and trailer and hooked it up to the back of her BF's Ford Explorer and took off for the lake. She and "The Girls" were going to party like it was nobody's business for the weekend.

She didn't know what the drain plug was that her BF mentioned prior to backing the boat into the water. She figured this was just man talk for some engine thingy. As she needed extra viewing room, she raised the rear window and lowered the tail gate, now she had a clear view to see where the trailer was going, and the other girls were ground guiding her backwards. This was quite the event, with lots of going forward and backwards. The part about this being so open is going to come into play later... From how she tells the story, it took 15 minutes to get the trailer into the water.

Now, she didn't know to release the tie down straps from the boat to the trailer. So when she backed the boat into the water, the boat floated, but so did the trailer. Remember the drain plug? Well luckly there was no wind or tide to deflect the boat from moving around, so it pretty well stayed straight in the water.

As the girls are trying to figure out why the trailer was still attached to the boat, one of them noticed that the boat was taking on water. But by then, it was far too late for them to see where the water was coming from. They were so concerned that things were going from bad to worst when the boat finally swamped and went under.

Now, from what I understand, there was plenty of guys all standing around waiting to launch their boats too, but they were more than satisfied to watch a bunch of self made women try and figure this delema out for themselves. Remember ladies, you wanted to be equal, where here is your big opperunity...

One of the girls said, well the boat is still attached to the trailer and the trailer has wheels, just pull the boat out of the water, we can drain it, figure out what we did wrong and start over again. So they all agreed, it was going to be a "Do Over" and nobody was going to be hurt.

She got into the truck and started it up. Well the trailer was so heavy, with a boat full of water, the truck's rear tires had no purchase and they were slipping. Ahhh... but she is no dummy. She knows that she is driving a 4x4. So with the flick of a switch, into 4x4 and guns the engine. Now, most of the water ejected from the boat as it was going up the ramp. BUT, she came to a sudden stop. The water now went to the front of the boat. Since the front end of the boat is pointy, the water was funneled into a jet of water that flew straight into the open end of the Explorer.

From how it was described. There was so much water that entered the truck, it was flowing out the front windows and she just about drowned. It effectively killed the engine, stereo, cell phones, beer, coolers, food and all other sorts of camping equipment that now flushed out of the back of the Explorer as the water was draining from the back of the truck.

One guy just about had a heart attack, he was laughing that hard.

They eventually had to call a tow truck. Their weekend was shot.

I never asked if the truck was ever running again as I was just laughing so hard.

She eventually broke up with her BF as he went on and on about it.

I had a couple of paychecks that were 1100+ a week so i used those check stubs to give to dealership for creditor... that assured my financing then the wife i told her my single cab silverado just wasnt gonna cut it taking 4 people to waterfront when i get my boat... then i also told her it was on sale... yeah it worked...
