Warping rotors... help please
I have a 99 F150 4x4 and she destroys rotors like its her job. The longest I have had with the same set of rotors has been 8 months. Those were drilled and slotted from carquest. I run ceramic pads to try to keep cool and nothing is working.
Any, any, any ideas would be appreciated.

Not sure what the problem is.
Do you have rear brakes? By that, I mean are they working properly?
If the rear brakes are not working then all the stopping pressure is on the front brakes. Normally the rears account for at least 30% of the stopping ability. That and are you using good quality rotors? Not the cheap 1year parts?

Is this one one wheel or both sides. The only thing that can cause this sort of thing is bad calibers If you have a brake pad hanging and continuously dragging on the rotor it will eventually warp it. You may well have a caliper piston that is jammed. My SOP on rotor replacement is to replace the caliper too. I know it isn't alway necessary to do this but if I am going to replace one major part way not replace everything together.
wow 8 months, that sucks. I am in forestry roads all day with my foot on the brakes half the time. 3 of my rotors are stock and original I use semi metalic pads and would rather burn off the pads instead of the rotors pads are cheap and an easy do it your selfer. those vented and slotted directional junk is only good if you keep them clean. one offroad venture and volia you have cemented everything closed. I mentioned earlier in another post i had warped one front rortor due to a seized floating piston, these little pistons that fasten the caliper to the wheel assy, if one is seized in place the caliper cant squeeze and only push on one side this warps the rotor. hope this helps.
I once turned (machined) my rotors and put on new pads on my 01 Screw 4x4 and warped them within 6 months. Someone told me that the semi-metallic pads I use heated my rotor and eventually warped it because it was thinner than a brand new one. It may of been because of cheaper rotors but if my next brake change shows the say measurement of wear on the current rotors then I'll just replace them too. It's not worth to skimp on such an important system.
