Default Warning lights going crazy

Hey everyone, I have scoured this site and have not seen this problem anywhere. I have a 2005 f-150. Over the past 6 months, my dash warning lights have been coming on and off. The brake light, seat belt light, the air bag light, the check engine light, and the wrench light have come on and have either stayed on, or they come on and go off whenever they want. I have had the computer checked and updated w/ no luck. Codes have revealed nothing. Even the seat belt chime has gone off a few times when I driving and it's clicked closed. Some days only the brake light is on, some days its the air bag light. Yesterday the wrench light and the check engine light came on and it started running terrible. The brake light and the air bag light were on too. Sometimes if I turn the truck off and start it back up, some of the warning lights go off, only to come back on at a later time. I have checked the connections on the battery and the battery all checks out ok. No one has been able to figure this out, short of me taking it to a dealer for the cost beating. Any ideas out there? Thanks.

Does this happen when you are driving or sitting still? To me it sounds as if there is loose wire somewhere. My initial thought was the battery too but I see you already checked that...so I guess not!

It happens both when its parked and when driving. I have seen the lights go on and off while I'm parked and the warning lights have come on and gone off when it's moving. Now I do think the check engine and wrench lights maybe related to the throttle body sensor, but with all of them coming on and off all the time, it's got me lost. I cleaned up the battery connectors hoping that would help, but it didn't change anything. It all started with the brake light, then the air bag light, then it progressed to the seat belt light.

this may be a silly question, but did you have the battery checked?

Sometime when I start a vehicle with a weak battery, I'll see some of the same things you're describing...

I agree with that too...one time my battery in my 2006 F-150 was low but still started but some of the dash items were not working correctly. I took it to the auto parts store and they tested it and found it was going bad! Bought a new battery and all was fine. The heat and cold can wreck a battery overnight.

Default Did you find a cure?

My wife's '06 F150 does the same thing. I replaced the original battery and it seemed to cure it for a day or so. Now the digital odometer works sporadically as well. The warning bell ringing while driving down the road is pretty annoying too.
Loose wire? Bad relay? Where to look? Good luck with that I guess. Were there any recalls on electrical components that may have affected these lights?
Thanks for any help.

Check the engine, battery and frame grounds... both the negative post on the battery and where ever the other end goes to.

I'll check that when I get home next week. I know the battery connection is very good, didn't think to check the other end.
Thanks byte.

Local mechanic recommended a new instrument cluster for $600 plus install. I found a used one for $250 and installed it in 15 minutes. All looks good, but now the truck won't start. Turns over great, no fire. Is there a reset trick I need to know?
Help!

For your year model you have to have the system reprogrammed so all the modules can speak to each other.

Ford's attempt at stopping chop shops from changing modules from one vehicle to another.

From what I understand that no longer applies but back when your truck was built it did.
