I got a Pendaliner for $200 last week. That's a pretty good deal compared to the Ford dealer price.

The dealer I bought my '11 XLT sold me the Ford drop in for $200 installed. I also had a Ford drop in in my '97 for ten years, and it never warped. My neighbor owns the truck now, and it's still in good shape. Both would let things slide around like they are on ice if not tied down.

I got the Line-X Premium and it's so slippery, I'm going to have to get a bed mat. Anything that isn't tied in slides all over my bed during braking & acceleration. If you want slippery, I say go that route!

Cant understand how the liner can hold moisture underneat ? The bed floor isn't flat, nor the liner, also its not like the liner and the box cant breath ...I dont beleive they are that bad. I truly beleive that if you remove them once a year and if you clean the bed carefully you will have the best protection available, its scratch resistant and impact resistant, and you wont get minute crack like in the spray on liner allowing water and salt to create the same damage that undercoating was doing in the past.

IMO the drop in's are more prone to issues in the rust belt areas. I had a couple on my Super Duties, and they all caused the bed to rust within a few years. These are facts.
Nowadays I always do a spray in. I prefer Rhino liner or Line X , factory stuff is too thin. I always place a sheet of plywood in the bed as well over the spray in liner, to help things slide a bit.

I had a drop in in my 2000 F-150 for 12 years. All 12 years in the Toledo/Southern Michigan area.
Never had rust in the bed.
Finally got rid of that truck because the frame crossmembers were rusting away.
My newer truck has a spray in - it's OK.
Then I found a used BedRug on Craigs List.
I like it better than the drop in or the spray in.

I think any of the plastic drop ins will allow sliding. I too, much prefer the ability to slide things around. IMO, it's easier to secure things to keep them from sliding than to have to lift things because they won't slide.
Well here's another fact: I live in Minnesota and have had drop in bed liners in all my trucks and have never had the bed rust.
I have also had a topper on except for a few summers. Maybe that makes a difference, I don't know. I currently have a drop in with box cover and don't expect rust.
These pictures are of my 2001 which I bought new and had the liner put in right away. As you can see by the date on the photos, it had been 13 years and there's paint warn off but no rust.

The topper possibly helped your situation more than mine, I don't know. Anything that would keep your bed dry is a big plus. I had nothing covering my bed on my SD's year round. Just the drop in POS liner from Ford. My '05 F350 was the worst. After 3 years, I had two 8-12" areas of serious rust in the beds. Near the wheel wells. The area closer to the tailgate looked like yours, clean. I worked that truck pretty good, and did a lot of hauling in the winter.
When I removed my plastic liner, to redo my entire bed, I fixed the rust, then Rhino lined the entire bed. After that I fixed the outside of the bed, due to that infamous "foam" that Ford uses on the inner wheel well pans that causes the SD's to rust in those areas.
