Default Very First Oil Change - Filter Guts

I recently did the first oil change on my '16 F150 5.0L at 5K miles. I was curious how much metal may be in the oil filter due to engine break in. Take a peek and see if things looked "normal"? Take it easy - Ozz

Great video! Did you save any oil to send to Blackstone Labs for an analysis?

Curious if you had a strong Gas smell when you did the change and when you pulled the filter apart?

For the first 5,000 mile oil and filter change, would you not think there would be some wear material in the oil or filter?

No I didn't but I thought about it. It would have been interesting to see the results. Oh well. Thanks for watching - Ozz

Yeah I thought there would be a LOT of metal. I'm glad that wasn't the case!

No I don't recall the oil smelling like gasoline, just that delicious normal used oil scent.

I duct tape a 3 inch in diameter circular magnet to the bottom of the oil filter to catch any steel metal particles that come loose. So far I have not seen any signs of any metal particles when opening the oil filter after two oil changes.

Modern machining is so precise that you shouldn't ever have metal shavings as the engine "breaks in". 30+ years ago that would have been somewhat normal, but today it's a sign of a problem!

Nice work OP. Very few people would put in the effort to do this, let alone do it the right way.
