Default USING CELLPHONE and SEPARATE PORTABLE SPEAKER

Since the use of my older ANALOG PUBLIC SERVICE RADIO SCANNERS are not much used anymore since the change-over to DIGITAL RADIOS I have been using my DROID X cell phone and separate Portable SPEAKER setup to monitor the public service radio frequencies.

I am using the POLICE SCANNER APP which is the BROADCASTIFY.COM network off the internet. This is relaying participating PUBLIC SERVICE Radio Frequencies from all over the USA using the internet. Reception is great and many of the SUB CHANNELS are provided on the same link as well.

I picked up one of the PHILLIPS SBA1610 Portable Speakers that uses three each AAA batteries. This fits perfectly in the top unused slot in the top of my F150 display console. I am using the SILVER color portable speaker which looks like original equipment sitting in the open area of the console. I routed the STEREO cable coming from my DROID X headphone jack which is sitting in my cell phone holder in a unused area of the console. All cables are hid from view.

The Phillips SBA1610 Portable speaker has great audio quality and is very loud.

The CELL PHONE HOLDER is a ARKON GRIPMASTER and is mounted with double sided adhesive strips from local hardware store.

I ordered both the Phillips portable speaker and the ARKON GRIPMATIC cell phone holder from AMAZON. Rather inexpensive...

I usually bring in the PHILLIPS Speaker Amp when I am not using it as it seems to extend the three AAA batteries longer by not being in the high heat inside the truck. The Speaker does have a ON-OFF switch but seems to last longer if I bring it inside.

This replaces my need for a RADIO SCANNER rather well and works anywhere I am at as long as my DROID X CELL PHONE picks up cell phone service.
