Ok I thought I knew which one I was going to get the X3 w/ Troyer tunes but then I went over and visited f150 online first time there and what I came to notice is they are partial to Justin at vmp (to say partial would be a understatement lol) but through all this they made some valid points on both pro and cons on both "tuners" so here I was 100% sure on what I was going to do now I'm at around 50% and confused Now my question to all my forum buddies is, is it worth the 8-10 week and $50 price difference? Is there really that much of a difference? They both sound VERY good at what they due

I actually have both Troyer and VMP tunes for my truck. Was running the Troyer tunes for the last year, but recently purchased a set of tunes from Justin just for comparision sake. I am still trying to get my truck down to the dyno to maybe find out if there's any difference in the two tunes, but thus far haven't made it there yet.

What I can tell you is the seat of the pants opinion. That opinion is there's no difference in the feel of the two tunes. It seems I get the same performance out of Justin's tunes as I did with Troyer's tunes. Truck sounds the same, rides the same and feels the same with both tunes.

I was a huge Troyer fan prior to trying Justin's tunes, but now I'm really for both of them because I feel that both of them know what they're doing. I think alot of folks are in the Justin camp now because it only takes a week to get his tunes vice 8-12 with Mike. Because I already had the Xcal II all Justin had to do was email me my tunes so I had them the next day.

If I ever get the truck dyno'd I'll be posting the results.

Good, Fast, Cheap...pick any two. That being said, I cant justify a 50$ premium for the same thing...and be required to wait up to 3 months.

see that is a valid question.

think about this.... if you have to big of an air opening in your intake you can run hotter than normal. but supposedly you cant tell unless you run a wide band (think that is what it is called)...ok so you have two sets of tunes and even if they feel the same are they doing the same thing to the inside of your engine.

another example is that the edge tuner has had some issues with making trans go bad prematurely.... not heard anything from troyer tunes on the subject....so is the vmp tunes going to be as dependable also.... not knocking either place for tunes just trying or wondering if they are written that close then why pay the extra 50....

Your tune can save a motor (especially with power adders). Myself personally I would go buy a sct II or the like and get dyno tune, instead of doing the canned tune with no datalogging.

I decided on the sct x3 they are not canned tuned I ordered with VMP custom tunes by Justin from what I've been reading on a couple of the forums he is suppose to be one of the best! I would like to get dyno tuned but I'm not sure were I would be able to get that done by me and Jersey to central Florida were VMP is located would be a haul.I'm sure there has to be someone around that does it but I don't know were.

Just an fyi to 2008 f150 owners.... I am being told that the sct xcal3 would be the best over the xcal 2... I am being told due to file size of the newer trucks and etc...

Someone else pointed this out to me on the other F150 message board. Go to the SCT website, type in your zip code and search for an SCT dealer. You can then call them up and ask if they have a dyno. That's how I ended up finally finding a dyno out here.
