Default Tuner Basic 101

Hello all.

Have a 2013 XLT Scab, 3.5 Eco, 3:31 gears, 50K mi. Very satisfied with overall performance and all aspects of this vehicle, used primarily as a work/play everyday truck.

Do some occasional towing of a 22' pontoon boat (app.3300lb) including trailer.

My wife and I are contemplating doing some TT towing, likely in the 22'-26' size. We did do one tow of a 28' Layton (app. 6500lb) and it towed with no problem, averaged about 11-12mpg. Trailer itself was much larger than the two of us would need.

We do have a Reese 66541 WHD.

I'm intrigued by mention in several posts regarding "tunes" for improved performance in daily driving and/or towing.

Would appreciate a "basic 101" explanation of the systems, how they work, how they're installed, and who are some of the more reliable suppliers of these systems.

Thanks much in advance.
