Trucks with programers here!
Alright fellas, so i really wanna get some more power for my truck and wanna start saving up, just not sure how much yet, i like having a plan first. so here it is, i have an 05 5.4 with a 6" lift and 35/12.5/20 3:73 gearss set up right now and want more power. It just feels like a tractor right now. it picks up, but just not enough for my taste. i dont drive fast, but when id like too, it just isnt enough. so ive gone around asking for programmers. and at one local offroad location, they told me that getting a programmer with my 3:73 gears wouldnt be worth it cause you have the horses under the hood, but that doesnt matter if you have those gears that cant pull your tires enough for the horses to actually act. so my question to people with programmers is, did you guys regear? if not, that means you have the 3:73s. how does your programmer help it? worth it? what do you recommend.
Thanks in advanced!
For the smartasses, yea i know there is a search bar, but im on with my phone! search isnt working and id just prefer a thread for this topic so my questions can be answered, not someone elses.

from previous reads, i will think that you need first a regear (to compensate for those tires and lift) and then a programmer, most likely custom, like a griphon, as most likely you already have made mods to the engine like a CAI or an exhaust.
I have a 01 with 6" lift and 35's and 3:55's and I have a CAI and dual exhaust and I put a sct programmer on the truck and it really helped it out. the truck shifts with no problems and when you get on t it picks up and goes it is just as quick if not quicker then it was stock. eventually I might re gear but I don't actually need to I hope this helps.
AFE Stage 2 SI, Edge Cs with Custom PHP Tunes and FM 40 SI/DO with 3.73 4'Rancho and 35 toyos has made a huge difference. I plan on re-gearing but I went the more affordable route first. The custom tunes is where the majority of the difference came from.
