Truck shuts off at random while driving
If it ran progressively worse until it died, then it's not likely an ignition failure. But if you want to test the ignition system, follow the procedure in this caption:

It's more likely fuel pressure-related. Put a gauge on it so you can see it while driving, and try to notice what it does next time the truck runs badly or stalls.

It's not actually the pump; it's the valves inside the head of the FDM. Read this & the PREVious caption:

Not likely. The outside of the filter has no impact on how the engine runs. If it runs well, then the inside is probably OK, but it sounds like it's overdue for a change anyway. Before you attempt to change it, read this caption carefully:

Make SURE you get the correct filter with long nipples.
Something is cooling off, or folding back into place. It's ALWAYS worth checking the battery terminals - read these captions:

(phone app link)The ICM got moved in '92.

(phone app link)That changed to all-electronic in '93, and vacuum hose leaks wouldn't make the engine stall anyway. They'd make it idle high & maybe rough, but they wouldn't affect driving enough to notice.
