Given the huge number of sites that can help you with this by putting forth minimal effort, my recommendation would have to be the Internet in general.

Craigslists, or keep your eyes open for For Sale signs. I wasn't even planning on buying my truck. But was visiting my girl on her break and this was parked next door with a for sale sign. I've done hundreds of transactions on craigslist over the last decade. Just be smart and play it safe. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is. And if you feel uncomfortable for any reason, just leave.
Give it a good test though. Hopefully get a cold start, inspect for leaks, listen for any weird ticks or knocking from the engine, test transmission for smoothness, test the 4x4 for operation, get it on the highway, run it enough to know if it overheats or not, look it over again after for any leaks (brake fluid, oil, coolant, transmission, differential, etc.). If you like it, try to knock down the price for any defects (ask for him to lower the price so you can get it fixed). When you guys agree on the price, have him get the title and sign it over, along with a bill of sale, you give him cash. And drive out. Maybe don't go straight home incase they follow you.

I will be trading in my 2013 King Ranch with eco boost with 110,000 miles. It is flawless and has been well taken care of. PM me if your close to East Texas, and maybe you could do a buy from me when I trade it in at the dealership
