I haven’t had it since new, but a very slim chance anyone changed out the rear end and driveshaft. Super weird to me that every autoparts store diagram shows it as a two piece rear drive shaft but it is clearly a one piece

Auto parts stores just don't always have the correct information. Use one of the online Ford dealer websites, they're actually built to support Fords instead of "everyone".
