What have you not figured out how to fix? Non-working horn? Broken door lock?

Default This just happened to me last night

I have a 2017 f150 king ranch and last night here in south Austin, my teuck got broken into. Seems like they moved the key latch or something of that sort to open it. They also cut the wires on my horn as well. Does anyone have an idea on how much im looking at to get this fixed? Sorry its my first time this is happening and im getting mixed responses from people telling me to just take it to the insurance and others saying dealer. Im not sure what to do.

Call your insurance company, file a claim, and get an estimate from a reputable repair shop. If that repair shop happens to be your dealer, great. No one here can tell you how much this will cost with any certainty.

My door handle replacement was just shy of $1000 at the dealer. They have to paint the handle to match your truck as they don’t come in colors. The thieves didn’t disable my horn.

Just got my 2017 F350 King Ranch got broken into in San Antonio in the first week of march. Staying downtown comfort suites. They unplugged the horn pulled out the lock tumbler and turned it with vice grips. I had nothing of real value in the truck. They stole the owner manual and nothing else. The horn plug is super easy to plug back in and is part of the problem. I am replacing the door handle with a passenger side door handle that doesn’t have the tumbler. There are videos on YouTube showing how. The part was $170 and painting it was $100 I am putting it in myself. What we ended up doing is taking the truck to the airport and put it in supervised parking for $20 a night and used Lyft to ferry us around.

I live in San Antonio and got broken into this last weekend for the 5th time. This needs to stop!! Is there anyway we can change the handle and connect it direct to a battery to shock the hell out of them when they grab it? Has anyone thought about that?

I am making a shroud of mesh wire like on a chicken coop and I am adding fish hooks that will cover the plug for the horn in the front. If they try to unplug it they will get a nasty surprise.

The fact that you think anyone would be shocked by a 12v system means even if the option was available you would not be able to put it in.
