Default Troubles while towing

hey guys, new user 1st post. i have an 05 5.4L 4x4 Lariat. i had a motorcycle in the box and was pulling a 5x8 U-Haul trailer with some furniture. i was driving through the Ozarks in 100+ degree heat and my truck started to dog out around 2400 RPM's. my "check engine" light started flashing and i pulled over. in less than a minute it stopped flashing and i kept goin at a slower pace until i found a rest stop. i let the truck sit for a while because i thought it might be an overheating issue. i started the truck again and slowly revved it up. it revved up just fine so i decided to keep on going. same problem persisted. after i got through the mountains tho it ran just fine up to 75mph on flat interstate travel. do you guys think that maybe the transmission was just under a heavy workload and needed a rest or is there something more serious going on? any help is much appreciated

If it was recently when the temps here reached 100+ and the high humidity it probably was a cooling issue. Those were extreme temperatures and not much of anything was staying cool. If it is ok now I wouldn't worry about it. Usually a hard error would have caused the check engine light to remain constantly on. You may be able to scan the computer for codes and it may still be there. Bug again, if it doesn't reappear you are probably ok.
