Default tranny question

hey i have A QUICK QUESTION DO new transmissions add horsepower to a truck I'm sure i already know the answer but i want to be 100 percent sure... in an argument lol

Parasitic loss still applies. 20-25% loss on autos, 10-15% on standards. You can gain torque through the gearing but you'll always loose hp through the drivetrain. (That's kinda why I wish they would state the RWHP instead of the power at the flywheel.)

exactly what i thought ... in an argument with this chevy guy thought his 95 pos could out pull my 04 ford because his tranny was rebuilt and added horsepower... i said no but didn't want to be wrong

Don't listen to him, he's an idiot. Torque is what turns the wheels. Power is just the rate at which you can apply torque.

agreed it was funny though he showed the picture and his truck was squatting so bad he was bragging that he was pulling a ford (mustang) on a trailer the mud flaps were almost on the ground
