tranny leak
first off ive got a 98 5.4 4x4
Im havin a little issue with a pretty bad tranny leak. I was out with a friend doing some mudin/trail riding we got in some pretty deep and steep stuff well the guy that was muddin with us got stuck so we hooked up the chain to pull him out gave it a couple yanks and draged him out while we were unhookin the chain i noticed i had transmission fluid pouring out what seems to be the front seal(coming from the dust cover)..
well i got out of there stoped at the nearest store picked up 4 quarts put in 3 (it wasnt ont the dipstick) well i was about 20miles from home when i got home it was still pouring (had a trail of fluid) let it sit hosed it off start it up top off the fluid 2 1/2 quarts and no leak. let idle for 10 mins and nothing go for a little drive about 15mins or so then it starts pouring again... it seems it temp related. also following the trail of fluid back it seems as it only leaks when I let off the gas to slow down or it idles.
im sure i will be droping the tranny to replace the seal..
has any onle ever encountered this type of problem if so is there an another problem with in that could be causing this ..
Just dont want to have to drop it twice..
sorry so long just tryin to give all details
