tranny help

Default tranny help

i have an 06 supercrew 4wheel drive and i just put a mag hytec pan on when i went to empty the old oil out of the pan i found a yellow plunger with an oring on it what is this for and should i be driving with out it

Default Just One of Those Things:

Fear not....the plastick gimmick is a plug used to close the dipstick port in the tranny during manufacture. Rather than retrieve the plug at final assembly it's just pushed into the pan where it lives harmlessly; I think it is also designed to generate worry and questions by the DIY gang at the first tranny service....there seems to be a somewhat morbid sense-of-humor among those design engineers.

He's bang on, there's nothing to worry about. Just shows it was a virgin till now. How many miles, you've gone a few years without a tranny service.
