Trailer Interior Lights
Just went through the same issue with the brand new NEO trailer i picked up last week.
If your truck is 2015 or newer and has a trailer towing package, the trailer connector is know as "smart connector"
The truck will know when the trailer is connected and will send voltage to the proper pin to turn on interior trailer lights and charge a breakaway battery if your trailer has one.
It's a very simple process.
Hook up your truck to your trailer with the truck NOT running.
Start your truck and hold your foot on the brake pedal for 3 seconds, you will see a "trailer connected" message in your dash. You should now have power to the pin that will supply the 12 vdc to allow you to turn on your interior trailer lights and charge your breakaway battery....if you have one.
The owners manual is very poor at describing this procedure.........very frustrating.
Please try this and let me know.
Thanks.

Good afternoon
I am having the same issues with my 2020 F150 and 2021 Neo enclosed trailer. It did work initially I drove the trailer home still connected to the truck but they are not working now.

Hello,
I have a 2018 Ford F-150 and recently purchased a new NEO Cargo trailer that has two interior lights. When the trailer is hooked up, all of the exterior lights work, but the interior lights do not work. I've read on previous threads that I may need to add a fuse / relay, but I haven't come across which fuse and relay need to be added. I've checked the manual and called a couple dealers, but they don't seem to be aware of what needs to be done to correct the issue. The trailer dealer said this was common with F-150's. Wondering if anyone has had this issue with the recent model year F-150's and corrected it?
Thank you.

Good morning. Old thread, but I figured I'd respond to the above....my enclosed trailer operates the same. The truck needs to "see" it. On my set up, same for my 2019 and now 2020 truck, the truck's lights must be on, and you either need to depress the brake pedal for 3+ seconds, or turn your hazards on for 3+ seconds. Once that happens, the interior lights will work off the switch. Once it's shut off though, this will need to be repeated in order to have power. I should note too, that only the 7 pin connector allows for the interior lights....the 4 pin does not.
My fix will be running aux power thru the use of tool batteries. The LED lights inside the trailer don't use much power, so one or two Milwaukee/Dewalt etc batteries will be fine for my needs.

My Forest River 6 x 12 enclosed interior light is tied to the running lights, so to use the 4 pin and have the light, you have to turn the running lights on. I added a 7 pin cable to it, but it still works the same way, would have to rewire the trailer to use the aux 12v. I added my own LED strip lighting to a battery that is tied into a solar panel and the 12v aux from the truck.
Good timing, was just trying to figure mine out.
I have an enclosed 2019 sled trailer. Have not done anything except plug in the 7 pin connector to the truck. The trailer interior lights come on when I press the door lock on the FOB, and go off when the time delay runs out, guessing 30 seconds. I haven't experimented on how to keep the lights on, but they are definitely wired up. Just need to figure out what switch to hit in the truck to keep them on.
