Just so they don't get damaged...you can use pliers and soap....for the price your better to have the tool to set the stems in the rim holes...you can see by a test fit which way the sensor fits the rim curve...

It's the mhz and match.....my winter rims from an 2009..on my 2013..just changed to match my 16 today...the oem ford # doesn't matter.....my 16 uses tpms 35 or the oem #....
09-14 use tpms 12....under other ford oem #'s
