I always have recovery gear with me and I will help someone out if I happen to see them stuck, I pulled out a few people last winter. One thing I do though is I make them attach the strap to their own vehicle and explain to them that I will not be responsible for any damage that may result from being pulled out.

I will only pull someone out if I know them or there is a witness. Pull the wrong person out and break something or other and you get your **** sued off??? No Thanks!!! I do carry two tow straps and will pull someone out. Last winter was one of the snowiest we have had in years, I didn't have my new truck but a Ridgeline, it would pull things out but not big.

Followed someone on the way home from work in blizzard conditions and watched them go in the ditch. The whole time the cell phone was screwed in thier ear talking. Once they went in the ditch I did pull over an offer a ride and they seemed annoyed I would interfere with thier conversation. I walked away and the person yelled at me for not waiting until they were done with thier phone call. That person spent over 150 bucks getting thier ignorant **** out of the ditch that day!!!

Damage someone's car trying to do a good deed, you're still liable. No good deed goes unpunished.

If I know them, sure. If I don't they have to hook up the strap themselves, have a witness, and accept that any damages that may occur as a result of being pulled from the snow bank are on them.
