Towing Package add on's
Ok, so my 2002 screw KR has the standard towing package with class 3/4 (not sure which) along with the 7pin and 4pin wireing. The truck is also set up for a gooseneck hitch in the bed. In the bed wall is another power outlet. My 7pin adapter is to small to fit in there. Does anyone know what type of plug it is? Also, the truck looks like it use to have a trailer brake in the cab. How do elect. trailer brakes work?
The plug in the bed usually requires a special harness that gets plugged into the 7 pin at the hitch then into the gooseneck trailer. The other plug may be possibly for auxiliary lighting for the trailer.
To get electric brakes to work you need a brake controller. The brake controller is wired from the controller with a factory wiring harness that plugs in a junction box under the brake pedal area of the truck. When you plug in a trailer that has electric brakes the brake controller controls the braking of the trailer.

The harness under the dash, when you get a new controller just splice the wires into the wires coming out the back of the new brake controller into the harness wires. There will be instructions on which color wires gets connected to each other when you get the controller. You also have to watch the angle you mount the controller. It cant be installed too flat or to steep. Again, look at the install instructions.
When you get a trailer that has electric brakes all you due is plug in the 7 pin from the trailer into the 7 pin receptacle on the truck and you good to go. The only thing you may need to do is adjust he brake controller for the trailer you will be towing.
I have a Prodigy brake control. It's an inertia type controller. It's basically "plug and play". I just hook up the trailer and go on my way w/o any adjustments needed. The controller does have an over ride setting if I want more braking power to the trailer and it also has a "oh ****" lever that will look up the trailer tires in an emergency.

Thanks everyone. I'll try and post a pic of the plug in the bed later on today.

A goose neck/5th wheel trailer plug will fit. Check under your truck. You may see where they spliced into your trailer wiring harness to install the bed receptacle.

Messed around with this today and it does take a standard 7 pin plug. The internal pins were off alittle. Realigned the pins and tighted down the center screw and now my 7pin plug works. :-)
