Towing capacity
I have a 2016 F 150 XLT supercrew 5.5 ft bed. V6 not exoboost not 4x4. It says the tow capacity from bumper hitch is 5,000 lbs. if I install a full hitch to frame is it more weight? Seems very little weight for a truck
It's 5,000 pounds unless you add a weight distributing hitch. Your PAYLOAD sticker on your door jamb tells you the max payload you handle. Subtract the weight of yourself and all passengers, every mod you made to the truck, the weight distribution hitch (75 - 125 pounds). Divide what's left by .13, for 13% average hitch weight.
Many people end up in the 6,000 - 8,000 max trailer weight, some less, some more. Read the Towing section of the forum for in-depth discussions.
