Default Toolbox question

Buying a low profile black toolbox soon. What is the cheapest one that is still backed by quality?

the cheaper ones are usually aluminum, speaking from experience i would not get an aluminum one, I have on and wish it was steel.

The lid sags in the middle and can barely handle me (a 16 year old) sitting on it, sure its light, but i was almost praying when i had 2 buddies sitting on it yesterday. fyi mines a deezee from TSC

I have had no problems with my Delta diamond plate toolbox. IMO they look nice and I've never had an issue with them bowing but then again I bolt it down in 3 spots on each side.

I bought a used Kobalt box off Craigslist for about $75. Its a little dinged up, but it actually cleaned up pretty nicely with a Mother's Powerball and chrome polish. The only problem I had with it was where the gas shocks mounted to the lid was ripping out of the cheap tin metal. My dad and I made backing plates for each side and riveted them to better material, and its stronger than it probably ever was from the factory. I have no qualms about sitting on the lid, and it holds a tool box, craftsman tool kit, and a Rubberware container holding my jumper cables, wd40, rags, etc very well.

Never had a problem with my low profile TSC box. Had 4 people sitting on it and one standing. Lid doesn't sag at all, never had a problem with it but I never had it secured using the J-bolts it came with and instead used graded bolts.

Man I stand on mine all the time, multiple people sitting...sometimes i jump on it when i go nuts. it holds up well. $200 at TSC.
Its loaded with crap too. I just wish it was sealed better, not that it leaks, but you can see out through the handles, etc etc

I have the Kobalt low-profile aluminum toolbox on my F150 and I have been very happy with the performance. The lid does not sag in the middle and I have sat on it and even had 2 100 pound bags of deer corn on the lid and it still did not sag.

Good luck with your search!
