Default Tires

Hi all, I am getting new tires and I want to go with the 325/60x20 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs but I want to make sure they will fit width wise on my 20" FX4 wheels. I am going to install a leveling kit and re-gear from the 3.55 to 4.56. Will I have any rubbing issues? Do I need spacers?

Thanks
Scott

Hey rsjohnsn,
There shouldn't be much trimming, might be just a little on the plastic in the front. Why are you going to 4:56 gears? I'm going to run 37's and I'm going from 3:55 to 4:11's. Width wise you may have some rubbing if reusing your stock wheels. I'm going with a 20X10 wheel with a -12 offset and the tires are 37/12.50/R20

Check this out for a calculator. https://tiresize.com/gear-ratio-calculator/
Also check this to: https://www.customwheeloffset.com/wh...gallery?page=1
Add the truck info and it will show you trucks similar to what you want to do.

Thanks ScubaKen, good info. I do tow and haul on a regular basis and the 3.55 is too high. As it is now without any modifications, I would prefer it to be a 4.10 gear. With that said the calculator suggest a 4.25 after the modifications. The only options I have is a 4.11 or 4.56. By going 4.56 I always have the option of going taller if I ever want to without doing a gear swap again.

On a side note, I'm a fellow scuba diver as well. I got my first dive card almost 20 years ago.

Awesome, the wife and I try to make a tripe to the Caribbean every fall. Ok that make since having to tow. I have a 24' pontoon I tow myself. I feel comfortable going to just the 4:11, as I drive most of the time back and forth to work.

It must be nice to go every fall. The last Scuba Trip we had was to Mexico for some cave diving, loved it and miss it. Haven't gotten to go as much since we had kids.

How about spacers, will I need them and if so how big?

Yeah kids will stop some things you use to do. Not sure about the spacers, what's the back spacing or the offset of the wheels?

They are the factory FX4 20's and I believe they are 6.5 inch backspacing. I could be wrong so hopefully someone will chime in that knows for sure. I am pretty sure I will need spacers as I only have roughly 1 inch clearance between the stock 275's and the UCA.

Correct on the factory backspacing...I ran some 305x55x20 Nitto Terras on my '11 Lariat with the factory wheels and only had 1/4" at the most from the upper control arm. Tires were 33.2x12.6 with AT tread so hardly any side lugs. You may need spacers to clear but they should look good afterwards.
