Lightbulb Tires?

Hey guys, new to the site and f150's in general lol. I just bought a black 2003 f150 xlt crew cab Friday! Its a 2wd 4 door with the 4.6 V8. I love this truck already and am very eager to start making modifications. My first question is about tires. I have the stock 17in wheels. I want a beefier looking tire. I was thinking somewhere between 275s and 305s. Whats the right size to keep from creating tire rub? Also thinking of getting a lift sometime in the future. What is the best route for 2wd's? Body lift or suspension? How does it effect the ride? Another thing Ive had a hard time finding is the grille shell. On the 03's there is a shell that wraps around the lights that the grille is inserted into. The one I bought has almost a chrome looking shell. It has some rust on it so Im looking to replace it with a black shell. Im pretty new to all this so any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
