Default Tire Question

Hey all,

About to order some Cooper Zeon LTZ's for my 2007 F150 Screw 4X4 to replace the stock Scorpions (got 55K on them).

Question: If I get 275/60/20 to replace the 275/55/20, will I notice any gas mileage decrease? I am not leveled...just a bone stock truck. Just trying to decide, as I wouldn't mind a tire that is a little taller profile.

Shop also trying to sell me on the Cooper Discoverer AT-3 for a little cheaper price. I like the more aggressive look of the Zeons, but am open for opinions.

Anyone have any experience with either of these tires?

Thanks,
Mark

You might notice a tiny difference just because of the more aggressive tread pattern. But that size difference is not going to make that much of a difference.

i purchased the 275-60-20 zeon ltz's from discounttire. put them on my 2002 ford f150 supercrew and they fit well. however, with about 50% wear one tire has apparently developed a bead leak that kal tire hasn't been able to fix or confirm. topping them up every week as it loses about 10 lbs. per week. frustrating and enough to turn me off of the tires...

a bead leak is usually due to the wheel, not the tire. do you have chrome or aftermarket wheels?

I made the exact same change and according to the little MPG video game on the truck, I dropped about 1 MPG. I'll tell you to do it without hesitation. The difference between the Scorpions and the LTZs is night and day. They ride smooth, traction is great, almost no road noise for the tread pattern and they completely changed the look of my truck. Got mine from Discounttiredirect.com for $904 shipped.
