Default Tire Pressure when Towing

I recently upgraded my old tires on my 2013 f-150 with some goodyear wrangler duratracs. The max inflation on the tires is 51psi and the factory recommended pressure on the door jam is 38psi for all four tires. So should i be running 38 when towing or add more PSI to compensate for the extra 5,000lbs of the trailer.

Note, i do have a weight distribution hitch installed on the trailer.

Personally I would probably run the 38 in the front as usual, and +45 ~ 50 in the rear if the tires are rated for it.

For reference load range E (sold on SuperDuty) tires are 70 PSI ~ there is a similar method, 50 in the front and 65 ~ 70 in the rear.

Not sure of the "science" behind it, but I always assumed there is less rolling resistance with the extra weight on the rear when you up the PSI due to less flex in the walls. Likely less wear as well, and towing will wear down the rear tires quicker. - just my personal assumptions.

Thats what i was thinking too. But since i have the WD hitch the weight is evenly distributed to the truck so maybe 43 in the front and 45 in the rear. Just a guess

I'm pretty sure the manufacturer of the tire has a load sheet with the PSI's they recommend. I know I seen one on the Toyo website tires. It has your tire, what size you have, what load you plan to have, and the recommended pressure.

https://tirepressure.com/goodyear-wr...-tire-pressure

Found that put didn't search more for the official Goodyear chart.

This is for 275/55R20, I don't know what your size is:

It's easier to find for TOYO:

When I used to tow my TT I always ran 50 PSI in my rear tires which was max for that tire.
