Tire Load Question
I am looking at some new tires for my truck. I don't haul much of anything, but do a lot of in town driving. I currently have the BFG Long Trail 265-60-18 and they are worn out. I'm looking at a taller tire to replace these. My options are a 265-70-18 and a 275-70-18. the 265 has a load rating of 116 and the 275 has a load rating of 125. I drive somewhat aggressively and tend to roll my current tires when cornering sometimes. I know that going to a taller tire won't help this issue. My question is would the higher load rating of the 275s help, or should I save $50 a tire and go with the 265s? Thanks so much for your help. BTW this is an 07 F150 XLT 4.6.
Just get a tire with a higher ply. Your tires now are probably 4 or 6 ply. If you want to stop rolling so much go with an 8 or 10 ply. This will have a load range E. They will be a little more expensive and also ride a little rougher but they will stop your rolling issue and may wear more evenly depending on your rotating habbits

sounds like the consensus is the higher load 275/70-18s. I realize that the ride will be a little rougher, but Lubbock, TX is not known for its super smooth roads anyway. I'm thinking the BFG All Terrains will be a good choice. I don't off road much, but like to drive to the canyons around here. Also thinking about an hbs leveling kit since my front is a bit lower than the back.
The BFG AT KO would be a good choice, as would a General Grabber AT2. Either will have a wider footprint than the Long Trails and offer slightly more stability. You will be happy with them off road too, as long as you don't get too carried away.
Well, I pulled the trigger on the tires today...I ended up with the Falken Rocky Mountains, but in the higher load range. Either D or E. I'll check for sure later. Discount tire gave me a heck of a deal...275-70-18s were gonna be 1200. For 1400, I got 285-70-17s and Rims with new tpms sensors and the replacement certificates...woo hoo.

Load E rated tires will last you a bit longer. The roughest part about Lubbock are the cobblestones downtown, on Main, and University. I've been riding around in 10 ply Hankooks on my SWB F150 since I was a senior in high school, 47,000 miles ago...still have about 40% of the tread left.
