Default Tire Inflator

Hello folks!

I just got a basic tire inflator for my f150 and travel trailer - AstroAI 100 PSI
The vendor told me this model is not suitable for inflating trucks... Any idea why? Why it will be suitable for SUV or minivan with about the same tire size and psi, but not for trucks?

Thanks!

Sounds stupido .....Probably a generic answer that as soon as you say truck they assume it's an 18 wheeler with the higher pressures...
You can't fool that vender big trucks do have higher pressures....LoL

Have you used it yet? Might take 15 minutes to put the last 3 PSI in your tire.

My guess is it doesnt have a high enough duty cycle/run time for the duration needed to inflate larger tire.

PSI ratings on inflators aren't what matters. You should pay attention to CFM and duty cycle. I don't have any experience with that particular inflator, but cheaper inflators will tend to take a long time to inflate a single tire from flat and overheat if run for more than 10 minutes continuously.

If you want recommendations:
For a battery powered inflator - pick a unit from a tool company such as Ridgid, Milwaukee, Dewalt, or Ryobi
For a 12v inflator - Viair is the gold standard

I've had a Sears one for home for about 20 years now. It struggles but does the job. I keep a throw away in my truck for emergencies. If you're having to use one every few days, fix your tire. Also the best thing to do is watch the farm guy's reviews. Then you'll get your money's worth.

This 100%.
Cheaper inflators can only run a certain amount of time before the heat gets them and tears them up.
I have a cheap Amazon inflator and I have to let mine cool after about 10 minutes run time and even then, it's still hot.

Ill second this. I have a Ridgid 18V inflator and it works great. It does come with a 12V cord in case you dont have a battery.

The other one I have is this:

Amazon Amazon

It is an absolute animal but you really have to use it with a 4 tire inflator because it flows so much air that a single tire valve causes a ton of back pressure. It will air up all 4 of my 35" tires(315/70R17 Raptor takeoffs) from 9 psi to 35 psi on my truck in 7 minutes. But it is kinda big and heavy to carry around in the truck all the time.
