So I want to buy new rims and tires but here is my dilemma.

I have 18s stock and am worried about the higher cost of keeping 18s on the truck. I can buy new 18 rims now and then worry about tires before the winter or buy new 17 rims and tires now.

Which would you do?

 

Selection is better in 17s. This could change down the road, though. Remember, you may have to replace your spare as well if the outside diameter is greater.

 

interestingly enough 20s are actually cheaper than 18s. never priced 17s, but if your goal is to save money in the long run then keeping what you got is probably cheaper, the cost of rims would probably be close to a set of tires for the rims you already have depending on if you get good rims or not. Alternatively you can buy a tire that may not look as cool but has way longer tread life.
