Default Timing chain

Replacing timing chain in my 2018 F150 at 40,000 miles. Will this happen again with new parts?

it's possible

the likelihood of a repeat failure is low but there still is the chance as with anything man made

Timing chain failure at just 40,000 miles? I'm assuming this is an ecoboost?

Timing chain should be good for 400,000 minimum.

Very possible, but like I pointed out in the thread where it was pointed out that these phasers have plastic guts in them, it pleases the stockholders/beancounters and Ford gets to flip you the bird come the instant the warranty goes bye-bye.

Either you believe Ford’s QC is great (they’ll all self destruct) or it’ll go the way of VW electronics and you don’t know what you’re getting into. Pick your poison.

Making vehicles that last a long time doesn’t help the economy. Making disposable vehicles where you pull a loan every few years does. It is what it is.

Can you imagine if the Edison bulb lasted forever? We would all still be using the same dim assed bulb today.

What is your oil change interval and oil used? Even if you used old 30w oil I still can't imagine it wearing out at that age. Probably just a bad one and you got it.

These chains are the reason the oil in these needs to be kept in really good shape, if they wear you are gonna pay a lot more than changing the oil more often. These
are not engines of old.

THis is my worry, paying for this out of pocket would really suck and yes. I agree with you. Do more R and D before putting out the product. We love this truck but thinking it may be time to sell it.
