Default Thoughts on restoration

Hi everyone! I am getting started to restore a complete rust bucket that I recently purchased for $500. Was curious if anyone has ever seen/heard of someone covering their entire truck in line-x or another similar product. This is going to be a frame-off resto - even the frame is very rusty. I have 99% of the body panels I will need, but I will be rebuilding the suspension, etc.

I want this truck to be driven by my boys someday (they are 5 and 7 right now). I live in Michigan on a dirt + stone road and it snows heavily - so issues such as rusty cab corners/everything else are not just common, but expected on this make/model. I also want to be protected against stones, etc and still use the vehicle on a small farm.

Any suggestions or advice you could provide would be extremely helpful!

There are lots of people who line-x or rhino line their entire truck. It seems to hold up pretty good for them. Not sure what year truck you have but here is a 10th gen that has been completely line-xed

Default Thank you!

That thing looks mean! I have a 1995, so it won't be that pretty but hopefully it's effective.

Personally I think line x rhinoliner etc has its place, but not on the exterior of the truck... To each their own tho, if that is the way you want to go more power to you. Covering an entire truck would cost quite a bit unless you are doing it yourself too. I bet its about the same price as painting the truck would be.

I think the guy that did that truck said it cost him about $1500 but I'm not sure where that falls on everyone's expensive scale or where that compares to the price of line-x vs the surface area of the truck

I probably should have researched before I made such a statement.... I was going based on the price to line x the bed of a truck then estimating what a full truck spray would cost.
