I'm a 3.7L so I'm neutral, but I'd say the 5.0 guys with the 3.55 love their trucks
What??? It ain't big my mom drives a 2005 expedition and it's even worse because you cant get a good view through the window...were gonna downsize once I get my truck(hopefully a f150)

You can start by building the vehicle on ford's web page so you'll have an idea of all available options for the truck. You may consider printing the build after running through it several times. You can bring this in to your sales rep. They will be relieved to see you know what you want! I wouldn't focus on price right off the bat. Weed out the wants and needs and find packages suitable for the buyer or your mom. Each truck on the lot is priced differently, based on the factory build and time on the lot. Finding the right combo. for the right price will be the trick. Keep in mind dealers can transfer between lots. So if you don't see anything on the lot with the options you want don't stress. As long as you know what packages you want they can find it, or should be able too.

-Check current rebates! This can be done directly on fords web site. READ SMALL REBATE CODES!!! The rebates you QUALIFY for will appear as such on your buyers order / agreement. Sooner you learn the more comfortable you'll be when it comes time for disclosure.

-Consider financing with ford motor credit for 1000 dollar FMCC credit, you can always refinance after 90 days if you decide.

If the vehicle is for your mom I would consider:
-convenience, chrome and tow
-captains chairs with center console
-Rear locking diff
-power adjustable pedals
-key pad
-extended warranty
-spray bed liner (dealer specific, negotiable)
-lifetime oil changes( dealer specific, negotiable)

UPDATE:

We have struck a deal! My parents are going in Monday to sign the papers.

Actually, we couldn't find what we wanted on the lot, so we ordered from the factory:

XLT, Red Candy Exterior, Steel Gray Interior, SuperCrew, 5 1/2' Box, 3.5L EcoBoost, 4x4, 3.55 Electronic Locking Axle, Trailer Tow Package, XLT Plus Package, XLT Convenience Package, Black Running Boards, Rear View Camera, and Trailer Brake Controller.

So, it will be a while before it comes in...
